In Egypt, 10 children (5 boys and 5 girls) were supported through the funds. In order to reach sustainability and independence, the organization “Resala” delivered vocational training to these children since they had no background in formal education. The beneficiaries learned about professional life, and what responsibility they hold towards themselves and society. Awareness sessions included: child rights, freedom, education, safety, health and welfare. The training of the children included: Decoration and design, fashion design, formation of copper and jewelry design, and carpet making.

Ethiopia
The appalling rise in the number of orphans in Ethiopia has reached epidemic proportions. The United Nations Fund-Ethiopia (2007) estimates there are 4.6 million orphaned children, 85 % of which do not attend school. A Library has been built and equipped in Dire Dawa town Eastern Ethiopia, a very important addition to the Luqman Primary School. One of the biggest challenges the children face is the lack of educational support including books to read.
