SmallWorld supported 4 children with disabilities through Occupational therapy and special education. The goal out of the support was to develop focus skills, self -esteem, and boost basic learning. After the 1-year program, short-term objectives were achieved as demonstrated by the progress reports by the occupational therapist. The beneficiaries showed advanced internal motivation, gradual independence, focus, as well as a developed self-image.
Hungary
One of the charities that SmallWorld supported in 2011 was Andras Peto Institute of Conductive Education and College for Conductor Training. The support to the association helped families to receive conductor education which enabled them to get better jobs and secure a better income. As it came in the association’s report “SmallWorld helped motor disabled people to have equal opportunities and this was achieved through successful conductor education. Also through SmallWorld, the Peto method was able to achieve independence and integration into society through which the majority of former clients became useful members of society.”
Russia
Gift of Life Foundation was supported by SmallWorld in 2011. This partner helps children and adolescents suffering from cancer, hematologic and other life-threatening diseases. The donation of SmallWorld was used in the purchase of a very expensive cure “Vifend” for a child called Eva suffering from autoimmune lymph proliferative syndrome. After the cure, Eva was given the chance to a healthy life.
Ukraine
The Ukrainian Red Cross Society The project in Ukraine aims at the support of children from multi-children families living in areas of nuclear pollution resulted from the Chernobyl Nuclear Accident. Through this project, the Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) supported 17 children from the contaminated Vinnytsia and Rivne regions. The funds handed to the URCS were used as follows: 1) purchase of clothes and shoes for the children 2) education tuitions for the children 3) Administrative expenses. The support shown by SmallWorld was acknowledged by the children as they wrote thank you letters to us, pointing out the joy they felt for receiving even the simplest items.
United Kingdom
The charity supported in the United Kingdom in 2011 was BBC – Children in Need. The funds donated from SmallWorld to the NGO served in supporting children under 18 who suffer from mental, physical and sensory disorders; behavioral and psychological disorders, as well as others who live in poverty.
